To Paul et al,
Trout feeding on aquatic snails? Very interesting... Consider The =
Freshwater Molluscs of Canada (1981, National Museums of Canada) by =
Arthur H. Clarke. The book is mainly about the identification of member =
of this group, but has some good sections on their classification, =
distribution, and ecology..

  Subject: [NatureNS] Trout and Snails

  Hi All
Today was so beautiful a friend and I went to one of the Rainbow Trout =
lakes
for some paddling and fishing. Lovely reflections, lots of insects =
about and a few
  folks out fishing.
We caught only one trout - we should read my friend. It was a nice fat =
35 cm rainbow.
When he took it home and cleaned it, it was stuffed full of snails. =
I've caught trout
with snails before but only in April. He caught the fish in 3 - 4 m of =
water and the fly was near the bottom.
Snails are kind of a mystery to me- life cycle and so on- perhaps =
someone
knows of a book to help me in my learning?
  Have a nice fall
  Paul
