There was a nice long, wide bed of seaweed from the strong NW winds we have had lately and a nice assortment of 9 species of shorebird as well as Horned Larks, a couple of flocks of Snow Buntings numbering 35 total, a single Pipit and my first fall Redpolls, a flock of 6. The Killdeer was a bit of a suprise. I was expecting to see more Red-throated Loons as there is often 80-100 there this time of year, so the 15 seemd low. I don't know if I missed the large flock this year or if therre are just elsewhere. I saw a few earlier in the week at Big I. that appeared to be migrating. Below is our E-bird summary. cheers ken Waterside Provincial Park, Pictou, CA-NS 29-Oct-2011 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM Protocol: Traveling 2.0 kilometer(s) Comments: with Steve Vines 38 species Canada Goose 240 American Black Duck 58 Mallard 1 Green-winged Teal 3 Common Goldeneye 25 Red-breasted Merganser 65 Red-throated Loon 15 Double-crested Cormorant 2 Great Blue Heron 7 Bald Eagle 3 Black-bellied Plover 6 Semipalmated Plover 2 Killdeer 1 Ruddy Turnstone 1 Sanderling 50 Semipalmated Sandpiper 2 White-rumped Sandpiper 12 Pectoral Sandpiper 2 Dunlin 2 Bonaparte's Gull 115 Ring-billed Gull 100 Herring Gull 5 Mourning Dove 6 Belted Kingfisher 1 Blue Jay 1 American Crow 6 Common Raven 2 Horned Lark 14 Black-capped Chickadee 2 Golden-crowned Kinglet 1 American Robin 1 European Starling 1 American Pipit 1 Snow Bunting 34 Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 Song Sparrow 2 Common Redpoll 6 American Goldfinch 1 This report was generated automatically by eBird v3 (http://ebird.org/canada) --Boundary_(ID_sxm4KQOieQAyIKyHgXO9Hg) Content-type: text/html; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META name=GENERATOR content="MSHTML 8.00.6001.19154"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton NS<BR>B0K 1S0<BR>902 752-7644</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial> Steve Vines and I spent a couple of hours at Waterside PP, Pictou Co. mid-morning.
