Dr Summerby-Murray came to Dalhousie in 2010 from Mount Allison University where he also served as dean. There he specialized in historical geography and received awards for his excellence in teaching. In recent years he has been exploring the use of GIS in historical geography and its application to furthering an understanding of geographical change. Historical Society members might want to look at a virtual exhibition of archival documents (Marshlands: records of life on the Tantramar), which he collated and interpreted in 2004 in partnership with Peter Ennals and Cheryl Ennals and which is available on-line at <http://www.mta.ca/marshland>http://www.mta.ca/marshland.
