Index of Subjects
Hi folks, It's time to remind members of this list about some of the reasons your posts might not get through: 1. Using an e-mail address that is not registered with NatureNS. Lots of us have more than one e-mail address. If you send mail to Nature NS from an address other than the one you're subscribed with, it will be rejected. 2. Using the word "help" in the subject line. It doesn't matter where the word appears; Majordomo assumes you want to know something about the system and just doesn't allow it in the subject lines to e-mail lists. Rejected. 3. Including (dot)php in a URL. It doesn't make a lot of sense and it's a pain in the butt, but it's one of the rules. Because we don't want to burden subscribers with attachments, we do encourage you to provide links to websites and pages with photos or other relevant information. But one of the Chebucto Majordomo's rules is that a web address cannot include the (dot)php extension (php is a scripting language commonly used, among other things, for mass mailing). If you include one of those, your message won't show up. Those three points are the source of most of the no-shows from the past four months or so. Normally, as administrator of this list, I let offending posts lapse because I see no point in encouraging bad habits. But today I'm feeling magnanimous and have accepted a few of them, which should be showing up any minute now. One other category results in deletion (unsubscription) of the offender: rejection of posts to this list by the subscriber's ISP, usually for a full mailbox that's left for a week or more. This happens about once every three weeks, and, at least so far, no one has complained about being booted off the list. On the whole, you are a great curious, collaborative, and knowledgeable group to work with, and you make this job really easy. Thanks, and Cheers, Doug -- Doug Linzey Administrator, NatureNS e-mail list naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca
