Allison and I got out this afternoon to check some of the Northumberland
sites nearby. At Malignant Cove I was surprised to still see a Black-legged
Kittiwake offshore but nothing else out of the ordinary.

At Big Island there was a group of 8 Dunlin foraging at the beginning of the
causeway with several Black-bellied Plovers. About a third of the way down
the causeway we had 4 Red Phalaropes in the water on the Northumberland
side, but in close to the beach. All four birds had some remnants of red on
the neck. Finally, at the end of the road there was a Greater White-fronted
Goose with a small flock of Canada Geese. There was another flock of about
200 Canada Geese visible from the wharf, but we didn't see any unusual geese
amongst them despite looking for the Snow Goose reported by Ken McKenna last
week.
