Index of Subjects

Despite the lack of yesterday's super rarities, Jim & Don found a good selection of warblers & vireos on a very quiet day at Hartlen's Point. Liz has mentioned elsewhere that I found a Philadelphia Vireo & a Veery (that posed for me on the path ...yep, no camera). I also flushed a Brown Thrasher & saw a very dull O/C Warbler. Other than that a few common warblers & a few Cuckoos.

On my return to my vehicle, I encountered a Osprey on the power pole opposite the nest stand. It was quite vocal & by the way it glared at me, I expected an attack. Did not happen but would have been a first for me!! Perhaps others over the past few days have noted the odd behaviour of this Osprey???

I checked out Pleasant Hill Cemetery area (@1:30) but very, very, quiet.

Angus

At 06:01 PM 10/4/2011, you wrote:

Jim Taylor and I birded Hartlens Pt this morning. Although there was a
flock of chickadees with accompanying warblers and vireos, none of the
rarities were seen. We did see Orange-crowned, Nashville, Magnolia, Black
and White and Black-throated Green Warblers as well as Philadelphia and
Red-eyed Vireos. I was able to get a photo of a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Near
the transmission tower we had 16 Great Blue Herons circling around above
us.
