All:

I just returned from Hartlen Pt., where I left Dave Currie and others
continuing to seek birds.

Dave will doubtless report with a full list, but for those interested
in trying, the large flock discovered yesterday by Dennis Garret was
still roaming in the high trees around and N. of the Back Cove. Among
theme were at least one CERULEAN, a Blue-winged Warbler, Blue
Grosbeaks, a summer Tanager. The commonest species was again Blackpoll
Warbler, which had probably been caught in their overseas migration to
S. America and brought here with the southerners.

While I was there, Bake Maybank phoned to say that he had seen what he
believed was a BAIRD'S SPARROW in the driveway of the mansion atop the
hill on the gated road from Duncan's Cove. This apparently
independently of Hans's sighting. He had also seen a Hooded Warbler
and more than one Blue Grosbeak and other good birds at Sandy Cove and
Duncan's Cove. He'll doubtless report on all this later.

Cheers, Ian

Ian McLaren
