This evening while preparing Sunday dinner at my parents' home in Bedford, I chanced to look out the front window and saw a quick greenish blur fly past the grapevines which hang from the eaves. It was about 5:30, darkly overcast and raining, so viewing conditions were not good. The creature was too fast and unexpected to see well, but I feel sure it was a hummingbird. Dad last saw a hummingbird there during the first week of September, and my brother took the feeder down last week. I knew that had been a mistake. So I refilled the feeder and put it out where we could keep an eye on it. We didn't see anything, but Dad has promised to be on the lookout tomorrow. Who knows? Patricia L. Chalmers Halifax
