It is not unusual for us to hear one or two calling during the day/night throughout the late summer /fall. Back in July I reported we had "a Tree Frog (Spring Peeper) who likes to climb into our rain gauge in our back yard - whenever there is a dry spell and it sits down at the bottom of the gauge quite contentedly for hours but does not enter if there is any rain in the base of the gauge". Over the past couple of months it has continued to visit the rain gauge and quietly sit in there, even found it in the gauge after dark the other night. Now this past week on a couple of days we found there were two Tree Frogs (Spring Peepers) in the same rain gauge! One was considerably larger than the other and each had variations of the 'cross' markings on the back. Cheers, Judy Tufts >>>>>>>>>> Judy Tufts Wolfville NS <<<<<<<<<< _____ From: naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca [mailto:naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca] On Behalf Of Peter Payzant Sent: September-25-11 1:39 PM To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Subject: [NatureNS] Fall Peepers Hi, all- We're charmed to have some vociferous Spring Peepers calling in the woods around our neighbourhood these days, including a few quite close to our back door. They call mostly during the daytime, strangely, and although we've never gone looking for them it's nice to be reminded of their presence. Is anyone else hearing them?
