Noticed that some of the young males (assumption)=A0are now showing = agressive/possessive tendancies around the feeders and chasing other juvies= away. Volume has dropped to about 6 cups a day from over 9. Have not seen = any mites on the feeders since I reported them.=0A=A0=0ARob=0AGeorgefield N= S=0A=0AFrom: Angus MacLean <angusmcl@ns.sympatico.ca>=0ATo: NatureNS@chebuc= to.ns.ca=0ASent: Wednesday, August 24, 2011 11:39:17 AM=0ASubject: [NatureN= S] Hummingbirds=0A=0AAbout a week ago the male hummingbird coming to our fe= eders did the courtship trick (swinging back & forth in a wide arc). I didn= 't see if there was a female present but considered it very odd for this ti= me of year. This morning at a neighbour's, I watched a male doing the same = thing with a female in attendance. Then they flew off together...one return= ed briefly but i couldn't tell which one. It's remarkable how exact the arc= is, reaching the same height as it started each time.=0A=0AIn respect to m= ales, the majority are usually gone by mid-August. It would be interesting = to hear who still has males attending their feeders.=0AAngus --0-133964414-1314210332=:83175 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html><body><div style=3D"color:#000; background-color:#fff; font-family:ti= mes new roman, new york, times, serif;font-size:12pt"><div style=3D"RIGHT: = auto"><SPAN style=3D"RIGHT: auto">Did have a brilliant Male at the feeder o= n the weekend but sitings are irregular.
