Some animals which mate for life stay in touch during the nonbreeding
season. We do not know what each call means, and the one Angus describes,
although it sounds like an abbreviated mating/territorial call, may in fact
be an proper and complete call which means, "Family of groundhogs over
here...looks like easy pickings!"

Pizza for lunch! Time to go munch! (That's for me, not an alternate
suggestion of the meaning of the call Angus described!)
