"peeps", from 2 hours after high tide, for about an hour, ending where the trees end along the east end of the beach (west of The Guzzle). High tide was at 10:48, and my walk was from 11:45 to about 1 p.m. I was too late to see most arriving flocks of peeps, but the early foraging by them was very similar to July 24. That is, I guestimated about 3500 peeps concentrated at the water line a little east of Jean Merks' home, well east of all the summer cottages and roughly at the east end of the trees behind the beach. By about 12:20 or 12:25 I noticed a few hundreds of peeps flying from there along the ebbing tide line toward the west, and I couldn't tell where they might be going. Later I drove to the commercial area of the canteen and shorebird signage, but could see no foraging shorebirds on the shore from that point. I looked around for any public access to the beach for the public, but could not see any sets of steps that were public. One family of six or so people (no dogs) was out on the flats, but today was overcast and quite threatening for rain (which materialized in mid-afternoon). The only other notable sightings were of 2 separate adult bald eagles, and, under bryozoan skeletons and seaweeds and other debris stranded at the high tide line on the upper beach, oodles of small "beach fleas" (small dark jumping crustaceans in the order Amphipoda).
