The councillors were not above some small parties after the youth were safely in bed and were not always the sharpest at the crack of dawn. Anyway one morning as the light was coming from the east, several youth came running into our camp saying "There is an elephant in the orchard" Scientifically this should not be so - however when the fog lifted from my head, sure enough there was an elephant feeding on the apple trees. Pulling the little trees out with its trunk and eating the foliage, small apples, worms and whatever else was in the tree. Turned out there was a circus several miles away and it had escaped for a few hours of freedom. The caretakers soon had it rounded up. After that I tended to believe a lot of stories that perhaps were not accurate in all details. So you never can be sure Enjoy the summer Paul --0-1793185123-1311783629=:36695 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii <html><body><div style="color:#000; background-color:#fff; font-family:times new roman, new york, times, serif;font-size:12pt"><div><span><br></span></div><div><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', 'new york', times, serif; "><div style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'times new roman', 'new york', times, serif; "><font size="2" face="Arial"><hr size="1"><b><span style="font-weight:bold;">From:</span></b> Ulli <uhoeger@Dal.ca><br><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">To:</span></b> naturens@chebucto.ns.ca<br><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cc:</span></b> naturenb@listserv.unb.ca<br><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">Sent:</span></b> Wednesday, July 27, 2011 10:52:15 AM<br><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">Subject:</span></b> Re: [NatureNS] Mountain Lion in Connecticut<br></font><br>If you refer with your post to the recent discussion RE wolverines and cougars here on NatureNS then the answer is that nobody said that it is impossible that individuals could make it or made it to NS.<br><snip></div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">Hi Ulli</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">Reminds me of the time many years ago when I was a Councillor at a youth camp in Truro.</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">The councillors were not above some small parties after the youth were safely in bed</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">and were not always the sharpest at the crack of dawn.</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">Anyway one morning as the light was coming from the east, several youth came running into</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">our camp saying "There is an elephant in the orchard"</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">Scientifically this should not be so - however when the fog lifted from my head, sure enough</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;" class="yui_3_2_0_4_131178278635457">there was an elephant feeding on the apple trees.
