This works well for us:
Wait till dark. Take plastic shopping bag, hold it open under the nest. In other hand a putty knife and cut nest loose so that it falls in the bag. Close the bag and take it some distance away where you open the bag so that the wasps will be able to crawl out in the morning. I particular like this method as it does not kill the wasps and I have never seen them come back to the same place.

  Subject: [NatureNS] Wasp nests

While the topic of wasp nests is current, I have just found a small one under the porch roof right above my front door; if it were anywhere else I would leave it till the winter, but don't feel I can leave this one in case someone allergic comes to the door....
I would prefer not to use poison and would like to make the deed as quick and thorough as possible.
Suggestions as to the best/safest time of day and method would be appreciated!
