Cheers from Jim in Wolfville. JULY 6, 2011 - On CBC Radio this morning I heard a news report from Laura Chapin in Charlottetown, PEI, that last week? a PYGMY SPERM WHALE was found beached but still alive in a harbour near Shelburne? Tonya Wimmer of MARS (Marine Animal Response Society) reported that only 5 of these rare whales have been seen in 20 years of MARS experience. The 500-pound whale was pushed off the mud into deeper water, but then was refound dead the next day. Then the specimen was collected and sent to a lab (Quebec? PEI?) for a necropsy. --Boundary_(ID_t219x6sqyPA5sioYjmo8/Q) Content-type: text/html; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable <html><body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; = -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; "><div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; = margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><font = face=3D"Helvetica" size=3D"5" style=3D"font: 20.0px = Helvetica"><b>Hopefully Tonya or some of you can correct any errors from = my report below.
