This year I've been following a RBGR nest since May 27th. The nest has a good sight line into it so I can view the nest without flushing the birds. I've only been able to look into the nest once, on May 28th, when there were 2 eggs. The interesting thing about this nest is the degree to which the male is involved with brooding. I've visited the nest 6 times in total. Three times the female was brooding & three times the male was brooding. The female did slip away once, which is when I counted the 2 eggs. I was not photographing her. I did photograph the male once & got a nice photo of him tight on the nest. A couple of points: This is with a 24 X zoom so it's not as close as it appears. The male never moved & never left the nest, during or after the photo. http://rickwhitman.smugmug.com/Nature/Birds-June-2011/17339139_s8DKjh#1332372578_sRCCVNc -- Rick Whitman --90e6ba613b5cf5b4d504a5b4f49a Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable I've been submitting records to the Maritimes Nest Records Scheme (CWS,= Sackville, NB) for 6 years now.
