My thanks also to Paul Murray, Hans Toom, and Rick Whitman for their
reports. Though I live very close to Rocky Run, I didn't have a chance to
look for this bird until yesterday evening due to travel and work. I was
pleased to see it very quickly from the 207, but moved to the footbridge on
the trail. Over a period of about 45 minutes it worked along the shore,
productively feeding, towards me. Here are a couple of pictures (fairly
significant crops):

Subject: [NatureNS] Yellow-crowned Night-Heron Tuesday update

Bernard Forsythe & I were thrilled to find the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron
present for the third day at Rocky Run, at the intersection of Hwy 207 &
Lower Three Fathom Harbour road. When we arrived at the bridge on Rte 207 we
could not spot it. We went down to the footbridge at the S end & I finally
found it on the West side, about 1/3 down from the hwy bridge. The tide was
high & I should point out we searched with our binocs for 10-15 minutes
before I found it. We then drove back up to Hwy 207 & stayed on the E side
of the bridge. It continued to walk the shore N until it was perhaps only
1/5 down from the bridge. Unfortunately, at that point a truck backed into
the little driveway on the W side of the bridge, to throw bread to crows
(!). The Heron spooked & flew a little S & then straight up into the
"forest". We were observing the Heron about 11:30-12:00, in total. We did
see the Heron catch & eat at least one crab.

Thanks to Paul Murray for finding it & to Hans Toom for reporting it still
present Monday.
