Happy to report the hummingbird (male) survived the night. Chris held it u=
p to a hummingbird feeder this morning. It had a good drink. It then hopp=
ed onto her arm=2C and continued to drink from the feeder for another four =
minutes or so=2C and then took off. =20
Thanks to all the people who sent suggestions.
Andy and Chris

If it can fly normally=2C I would go ahead and release it=2C especially if =
there are hummingbird feeders around to give it an easy meal. If it's still=
weak=2C you can try putting a hummingbird feeder (4:1 water:sugar for the =
nectar) in with it to see if it will drink from that. The nectar should hel=
p perk it up and hopefully give it enough energy to fly and forage on its o=
wn. I'd give it an hour or so with the feeder=2C then check to see how it's=
doing. If it can fly normally after that=2C it should be fine and can be r=
eleased.=20

If it still can't fly right after the sugar water=2C it's going to need a b=
it more help. You can give us a call at 893-0253 for more advice or to arra=
nge transport for the bird to the Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

We have a hummingbird that a neighbour found in his barn. The bird had som=
e cobwebs on it=2C and was not moving. It is now inside (in a basket)=2C i=
t has warmed up=2C and is fluttering. We plan to keep it inside overnight.=
Any suggestions as to how to get nourishment into it before we release it=
in the morning...or should we just let it go?=20
Any suggestions are welcome=2C either online or off.
