Index of Subjects

Today at Palmeter Woods
Several tractors, one with trailer & logging grapple, were working removing pine logs from near the old firepit. Apparently the plan is to dig out this hill in the unceasing search for sand in Kings Co. There are also orange flagging tape throughout the area so it appears these woods will soon be no more.

I found the following: Chestnut-sided Warbler, Redstart, Phoebe (south of the bridge......late showing up but thought to nest here last year), 15+ Ovenbirds, several Parula Warblers, 2 Brown Creepers (singing), Hermit Thrush, ++Blue-headed Vireos (two males were apparently competing for overlapping territories & both songs consisted of notes very close together (similar to Red-eyed.... both were also very agitated), B/T/G Warblers, Rose-breasted Grosbeak & the usual common birds.

Have not heard a Winter Wren here yet. I find Black & White Warblers to be scarce this spring.

The only Lep was Spring Azures.
The only odonate was a White Corporal; photo here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/58321572@N00/5794363518/in/photostream

Angus
