I attended Suzanne Borkowski's Hants County field trip last Monday. We had a good morning and the birds became lively once it became warm and sunny, but I didn't have the stamina to continue all day. I left soon after lunch. We've seen so little sun that it sounds funny to say it, but I almost felt like I had sunstroke after walking in the heat! On the way home I checked a few favourite spots, looking for Bobolinks. I didn't find any, but found a few other species that were of interest, and new for me this year. Over a low wet spot below McKay Road, there was a large flock of swallows flying. They were mostly Tree, with a few Barn, but there were also at least four Chimney Swifts. Later I saw swallows and a few swifts over the fields along Murdock Harvey Road. An Eastern Phoebe called, once, from near the bridge over the Meander River, but although I lingered for some time I did not hear it again, or see it. I have seen Chimney Swifts and E. Phoebes in this area in other years. Patricia L. Chalmers Halifax
