There were only 3 Chimney Swifts seen to enter the the old farmhouse at =
Sangster Bridge while Cheryl Rutledge and I watched on Monday 23 May. It =
would have been easy to miss those too as they simply showed up and =
dived in. It is possible that a few others may have come earlier, the =
conditions were poor for swifts and I didn't arrive until 8:30 pm due to =
an RCMP barricade on Highway 101 at Hantsport.=20

Conditions were 60 % cloud cover, 10-11 C dropping rapidly to what felt =
like about 8C, 20 Km winds from south with gusts much higher than that. =
A very cold watch that we spent shivering in the car. No frogs, swallows =
or Soras calling. No Hummingbirds at the multiple feeders. Almost =
nothing moving except for 3 Grackles beating up a crow. Once again I =
checked the on-line weather at Kentville and Windsor before and after =
the trip and did not agree with their very mild statements - I wonder =
what planet they take their readings from?

Cheryl tells me that on Sunday 22 May at least 40 Swifts entered the =
chimney after a classic exciting spiral performance. She also said that =
they were late leaving the chimney in the morning, with the first only =
moving out at 7:40 am and the rest later than that.
