It has no Nova Scotian content (although of course Olive-sided Flycatchers do breed here), but some things are just too good not to share ... Patricia L. Chalmers Halifax Subject: It Paid Off- an Olive-sided Flycatcher From: Charlie McPherson <charliemac25 AT hotmail.com> Date: Sun, 15 May 2011 11:16:55 -0500 I took the top 16 ft of a dead white spruce tree, dug a hole at the edge of my pond, and stuck'er in. My wife thought I was nuts but a pond has to have a dead tree overlooking it, doesn't it? Anyway, an Olive-sided flycatcher fluttered into the ditch nearby today, picked off what looked like a bumble bee, landed up top the spruce, bashed it around a bit and gobble'er down. That's the first Olive-s flycather that I seen around here in years.
