Late this morning a female Indigo Bunting was foraging in the hollow north of our house in Portuguese Cove. The best chance to see it would be from the front yard by looking along the house and into the hollow. Do not go into the back yard since this almost always scatters the birds.

There were at least 24 Purple Sandpipers on the rocks south of Bull Head Light, Sambro Harbour. There were almost certainly more than the 24 I counted since they camouflage well and several were likely on the seaward side of the rocks. This number is unusual and very rare for this time of year.
