This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_iGLVKv44z+LfNzZ3JINItg) Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Chris, Should the report for Martinique B. also include the Buffleheads & the Northern Harrier (but maybe not the Savannah & Song Sparrows, if NS Birds reports aren't intended to be complete)? We were wondering about the Harrier's diet. I checked a few sources, which suggest that the diet is dominated by small rodents and mammals, but also includes birds, reptiles, insects, and carrion. Thanks again for leading the field trip, Chris -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "iamclar@dal.ca" <iamclar@dal.ca> To: naturens <naturens@chebucto.ns.ca> Sent: Sat, April 9, 2011 4:51:50 PM Subject: [NatureNS] Today's Nova Scotia Bird Society field trip to Martinique Beach All: Ten of us set out on the NS Bird Society field trip to Martinique Beach this morning, and walked to the second point on Bayers Islands, now owned thankfully by the Nature Conservancy of Canada (and not really islands, as joined to the beach). We found some of the usual birds - including few Black & White-winged Scoters, a Great Blue Heron, 16 Sanderlings, about a dozen Dunlin, about 9 Ipswich Sparrows, and Piping Plovers were absent, but I hope pending, for the first time in many years on this trip. On the way back via the shore road (207) we added a few commonplace species. The exhilarating walk was the best part of the day. Cheers, Ian Ian McLaren --Boundary_(ID_iGLVKv44z+LfNzZ3JINItg) Content-type: text/html; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=text/html;charset=iso-8859-1 http-equiv=Content-Type> <STYLE type=text/css><!-- DIV {margin:0px;} --></STYLE> <META name=GENERATOR content="MSHTML 8.00.7600.16722"></HEAD> <BODY style="PADDING-LEFT: 10px; PADDING-RIGHT: 10px; PADDING-TOP: 15px" id=MailContainerBody leftMargin=0 topMargin=0 CanvasTabStop="true" name="Compose message area"> <DIV><FONT face=Calibri>Chris, Should the report for Martinique B. also include the Buffleheads & the Northern Harrier (but maybe not the Savannah & Song Sparrows, if <EM>NS Birds</EM> reports aren't intended to be complete)? </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Calibri>We were wondering about the Harrier's diet.
