Some may have heard about a cargo ship wrecking on Nightingale Island in =
the Tristan da Cunha Island group. Although in the South Atlantic, this =
area is where greater shearwaters and many other seabirds nest. The =
rockhopper penguins have been the first seabirds affected but they are =
now finding other oiled birds including a fledgling yellow-nosed =
albatross.

Here are a couple of links if you are interested to following this =
tragedy:

The cargo ship was travelling through the South Atlantic and despite =
being only 2 years old with modern navigation, still wrecked on this =
charted island. Most of the oil is fuel oil but the cargo was soy beans =
and the environmental impact is unknown. The small population on =
Tristan da Cunha are volunteering to treat the penguins and have turned =
their community pool into a rehab station.
