** This Week's Sky at a Glance

On Monday, April 11, the MOON [Lune] will go into=20
its First Quarter phase meaning it will rise at noon and set at midnight.

Look very high in the northeast after dark for=20
the BIG DIPPER [Grand Ours] standing on its=20
handle and tipping over to the left. The two=20
stars forming the front of its bowl, the=20
Pointers, point lower left to Polaris about three fists at arm's length=
 away.

By Friday, April 15, the nearly full Moon is=20
approaching Saturn and company in the southeastern sky.

This Week's Planet Roundup:

MERCURY [Mercure], MARS, and JUPITER are all hidden in the glare of the Sun.

VENUS [V=E9nus] (magnitude -3.9) is still visible=20
at dawn, but it's lower every week. Look for it=20
low in the east-southeast as dawn brightens.

SATURN [Saturne] (magnitude +0.4) is the lone=20
planet in really good view in the evening. It's=20
just past its April 3rd opposition. Look for it=20
glowing low in the east-southeast as twilight=20
fades. Saturn rises higher in the southeast=20
during evening and shines highest in the south=20
around midnight. In a birding scope, Saturn's=20
rings are 9=B0 from edge on and can be readily observed.

Enjoy,

Blake
