20 March 2011, White's Lake (Prospect Peninsula), HRM

While in the yard yesterday I heard what I thought was a poor
rendition of a Fox Sparrow song, but could not coax the singer into
view. Today however, as if the bird had found his voice, he was
singing a much more credible, though still less than perfect,
song. I don't receive Fox Sparrows every spring, but most have
arrived later in the month, through early April. Last year, though,
my first was also on the 19th.

Our first robins arrived yesterday as well.

Onward spring.

Blake
