This Week's Sky at a Glance:

By about 9 p.m. this week, you'll see that the=20
BIG DIPPER [Grand Ours] has risen to the same=20
height in the northeast as Cassiopeia has=20
descended to in the northwest. Their seasonal=20
dominance is reversing; spring is on the way!

On Friday, March 4, the MOON [Lune] will go into=20
its New Phase meaning it will rise and go down=20
with the sun to leave dark nights.

Early March is when the bright star SIRIUS shines=20
highest due south right after dark.

This Week's Planet Roundup:

MERCURY [Mercure] and MARS are hidden behind the glare of the Sun.

VENUS [V=E9nus] (magnitude -4.1) shines brightly in the southeast during=
 dawn.

JUPITER (magnitude -2.1) is getting lower in the=20
west. It shines brightly there as twilight=20
deepens but sets an hour or less after dark.

SATURN (magnitude +0.5) rises around 9 p.m., but=20
is best seen in a telescope much later in the=20
night. It gains its highest altitude in the south=20
around 3 a.m. Saturn's rings are 10=B0 from edge=20
on and readily visible with a birding scope.
