Over the years, I've had three Ruffed Grouse turned into me, tentatively
identified by the finder as "a hawk". The grouse does have a slight curve in
its beak...I wonder if that's what folks cue in on?

It also just goes to show how important behaviour is in identifying birds; I
doubt any of them would have made the misidentification had the bird been
alive and wandering about.
