This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_6J/1lQa6YdcHfWx3s+YlbQ) Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Ken McKenna Box 218 Stellarton NS B0K 1S0 902 752-7644 Hi a I had a slight error in my announcement on the Naturalists talk. I had the correct date in the subject line, but in the text had correct day, but wrong date. Note the presentation is Tues. Feb. 1 at 6:30 and the room is now on the main floor not upstairs. The next presentation of the Pictou Co. Naturalists Club will be an illustrated talk The Grand Circle: A Photographic Journey through the Great Parks of the American Southwest. The Grand Circle is a popular driving tour that circumnavigates the Grand Canyon as it passes through the highest concentration of National Parks and Monuments in the USA. The diversity of landscape and wildlife makes this a dream trip for nature photographers. Steve Vines will share photographs and stories of a recent trip to this spectacular region. At our members night last month, Steve gave a small sampling of a few photos and all agreed they were stunning. So be sure not to miss this presentation as Steve will also be highlighting nature he saw along the way such as large and small mammals and birds. Once again the presentation will be held in the New Glasgow Library at 6:30 p.m. on Tues. Feb. 1. All welcome. Tue, March 1, 6:30pm Where New Glasgow Public Library Community Room, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia (map) Description"A Voyage to Belize: a look at its civilization and natural history". Join Catherine Tetu and Ross Hall as they share their adventures in an illustrated talk on Belize. Photos and points of interest include birds and wildlife, the tropical rainforest, natural parks, and a visit to a Mayan village. All welcome to attend. Also reserve Sat. May 28 for a combo meeting with the NS Bird Society. There will be a birding field trip Sat. afternoon, and a talk on Chimney Swifts on Sat.evening at the Temperance St. School followed by a viewing of the swifts as they enter one of the largest roosts in the Maritimes in the Temperance St. school chimney at dusk ( weather permitting). There will be birding field trips the following day as well. Also a note from Randy Lauff from St. Francis Xavier University that might be of interest to some: The Biology Department and Aquatic Resources are sponsoring a public lecture titled "Tracking large pelagic sharks with satellite tags", which will be presented by Dr. Steven E. Campana, Senior Scientist at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The talk will be given on Thursday February 3rd at 6:30 pm, in NH 151. Nicholson Hall, 151. That's a lecture hall in the basement.
