To Randy's and others' comments so far, I will just add that immature =20=

bald eagles are incredibly variable in plumages, and remember they go =20=

through a sequence of different plumages through the almost five =20
years or so to get the white head and white tail. Also size is quite =20=

variable, since females are perhaps 20% bigger on average than =20
males. All immature bald eagles show conspicuous white wing linings =20
(leading edges) on the undersides of the wings, so look for that on =20
any eagle that doesn't show white head and tail. And, of course, =20
study the field marks for golden eagles (undersides of wings and tail =20=

especially). Most people in Nova Scotia have little or no experience =20=

with golden eagles.

P.S. EAGLE WATCH IN SHEFFIELD MILLS is the following two weekends, =20
namely Jan. 29-30 and Feb. 5-6. Check out www.eaglens.ca for =20
advertised details plus the Chronicle Herald etc.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
