There were five Black-bellied Plover and two ad. Red Knots at the far =
end of the flats today. This is surprising as other than Purple =
Sandpipers I've seen no shorebirds there since the last sighting of two =
Black-bellies in mid-November and the team covering that area on the =
Broad Cove CBC also had no sightings. The birds all seemed in great =
condition. Perhaps they've wandered up from Cape Sable Island?

There were a few Lapland Longspurs and about 50+ Snow Buntings feeding =
in the dunes.

The beach took quite a beating in the last NE blow, more blow-outs, and =
the beach itself is covered with rocks, large and small. Walking is not =
easy even at low tide.
