Index of Subjects Hi Patrick - Just checked in my Peterson Western before writing my suggestions below. As Charlie Allen used to say about a bird in question, "Perhaps....." or "Possibly..." or " Likely ..." . 1 This Junco looks like the Pink-sided form of the Gray-headed Dark-eyed Junco ( see p.333 in the 1990 edition); 2. Probably Black Terns in immature / winter plumage. (You can see these at Lusby Marsh in Amherst for your NS list.) The fact that you saw an adult is supportive of this ID.(p.109) 3 Ruddy Duck young, I believe. (p.59) When I first saw them like this, and not stiff tailed, I was confused.
