Harriet and I were lucky enough to see a Shorted-ear Owl in the morning. Here is a photo taken from a long distance (this is a pretty severe crop ... maybe 10% of the original image): http://paulevans.smugmug.com/Other/Birding/IMG8623/1142118431_Dw3md-M.jpg Here are a couple more photos of Horned Larks taken along side Nick and Tuma: http://paulevans.smugmug.com/Other/Birding/IMG8767/1142118626_eHTJT-L.jpg http://paulevans.smugmug.com/Other/Birding/IMG8798/1142118716_Ccw4y-L.jpg Cheers, Paul East Lawrencetown From: naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca [mailto:naturens-owner@chebucto.ns.ca] On Behalf Of Tuma Young Sent: December-30-10 9:46 PM To: NatureNS Subject: [NatureNS] Horned Lark Kwe Msit Wen: Today, Nick and I had the pleasure of the company of Paul Evans and we were out at Grand Pre (dykelands) looking for the Short-eared Owls. We did not see any but Horned Larks and Snow Buntings kept flying near us. Very windy and cold but we all hauled our photo gear out and we managed to get some very good shots of the Larks. I have posted three images of the Horned Larks-now I am satisfied that I can count it as a Photo Lifer for me. http://gallery.me.com/tumayoung#100044/Horned%20Lark_1 <http://gallery.me.com/tumayoung#100044/Horned%20Lark_1&bgcolor=black> &bgcolor=black I guess I can stop teasing Ian and Blake about the Horned Larks now!
