Wolford To: NatureNS Sent: Monday, December 20, 2010 5:47 PM Subject: [NatureNS] re Birds around Grand Pre today To Nick and Tuma's list, I can add 13+ ring-billed gulls at the Wolfville sewage ponds (between Grand Pre and Wolfville along the main dyke), and about 30+ Canada geese seen distantly in flight over the Starr's Point/Port Williams area (seen from Grand Pre). I also saw a single adult female n. harrier, and I wonder whether Nick & Tuma thought there were 3 different individual harriers? Cheers from Jim in Wolfville. Although we didn't get many pictures we did have fun looking at the birds through our binoculars. None were exotic or rare but we had a lifer for us and that was the Horned Lark. And to Ian you were right that once spotted we didn't just see one but a dozen at least. Didn't get any pics because the sun was down already by the time we discovered them. So here is our list: Blue Jays - 20 Bald Eagles - 12 Northern Flicker - 2 Red-tailed Hawks - 12 Ring-necked Pheasants - 3 male and 4 female Starlings by the dozens Crows also by the dozens Song Sparrow - 4 Lincoln's Sparrow - 1 Black-capped Chickadees - 6 Northern Harrier - 3 American Goldfinch - 6 Mourning Doves - 15 Dark-eyed Junco - 6 Downy Woodpecker - 2 Horned Larks - 12 Nick Honig Halifax, NS --Boundary_(ID_8tc/+CZghSJ4lQ7rNBkuIg) Content-type: text/html; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META name=GENERATOR content="MSHTML 8.00.6001.18939"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY style="WORD-WRAP: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space" bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV> </DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE style="BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px" dir=ltr> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message ----- </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial; BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A title=jimwolford@eastlink.ca href="mailto:jimwolford@eastlink.ca">James W.
