It's during this time of year that the sun rises behind Inner Sambro and Sambro Islands, as seen from Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park. Several times during this Solstice period I venture forth early in the morning and trek to suitable locations on the second beach to watch this celestial event, an experience more for the soul than for the photographs. This morning I was treated to the rayed sunrise display reminiscent of the old Japanese rising sun or battle flag.

There were three Killdeer that shared the beach with me, quite reluctantly I might add. I managed a few early morning photos of these Killdeer in the snow and sand. Although I am pleased to have these photos I do wish these birds well and hope that with this good weekend weather they will all be at Cape May by Monday.
