All: I took a stroll (no faster) around the grassy area n.e. of the beach house at Rainbow Haven PP this a.m. The entire area, but for a few high spots, has been flooded, and I found no grass or marsh sparrows. Of routine interest (no rarities for NS-RBA) were: Black-headed Gull - a flock of about 40 "roosting" on the water n. of the grassy area. My experience is that this small gull tends to "roost" in groups on water rather than land, unlike the large gulls. Horned Lark - three of the usual boreal/taiga subspecies _alpestris_ (yellow-face, warm brown back). If anyone comes across white-faced Horned Larks(or with limited yellow), please try to get good photos. All other passerines were in the spruces near the beach house where there is still a good crop of Bayberry. These were ca. 30 "Myrtle Warbler", 4-5 Song Sparrow, one Swamp Sparrow. Cheers, Ian Ian McLaren
