--0016e6dbe802ecd16204966f130e Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Hi, I had a nice little sea-watch at Cottage Cove and the road to Port George on my way here to Middleton this morning. Location: Port George Observation date: 12/2/10 Number of species: 17 Common Eider 40 Harlequin Duck 15 - all in a group, 10 ad. M and 5 F. Surf Scoter 50 White-winged Scoter 50 Long-tailed Duck 4 Red-breasted Merganser 1 Red-throated Loon 3 Common Loon 5 Horned Grebe 1 Red-necked Grebe 3 Purple Sandpiper 3 - flew by then turned in towards the wharf where I lost them. Black-legged Kittiwake 3 Herring Gull 20 Great Black-backed Gull 5 Thick-billed Murre 8 - Mourning Dove 2 American Crow 10 The Murres were in 2 small flocks, including a couple swimming on the water. I noticed several flying by at Parker's Cove further down the Bay 3 days ago. They, + the Kittiwaakes, were only visible with a scope. All the seabirds except the Harlequins were at Cottage Cove, and the Harlequins were farther towards Port George. I suspect that there are large numbers of all this stuff right down the Fundy coast from Margaretsville to Brier Island, if there are people there to look! -- ################# Richard Stern, 317 Middle Dyke Rd.
