Hi Everyone, I thought I should update everyone on the melanistic
squirrel that seems to live here in spite of an outside cat that we are
trying to catch to no avail so far but we haven't given up! The black
squirrel is the only one we can tell apart. It was seen today, seems to
come here every day for food. At one time it had a dime sized wound on
its face which didn't get infected and healed to get black fur on it
again. My theory was that it poked its face where it shouldn't have! I
wonder if it has passed on that gene, if it is a gene. I don't know if
it is a male or female. To me it looks very fit & it is very
aggressive. I have seen it take runs at large birds, blue jays &
morning doves, as well as other squirrels of course.
