Foremost, it gives the birder the ability to post a report to NS-RBA immediately provided there is cellular coverage as we have already been seeing from a Blackberry post here and a "sent from my iPhone" there. Furthermore, there are now birding e-books and applications available for android phones, Apple iphones, and iPods, including Sibley's Birds of North America in various forms since June 2010. While the price for Sibley's is pretty much top dollar $30, it might be useful to some in the field, or even as a more portable complement to the paper guide. For Apple iPhone and iPod Touch (June 2010): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-sibley-eguide-to-birds/id354101483?mt=8 Android phones (Nov 2010): http://www.sibleyguides.com/2010/11/android-eguide-now-available/ Blackberry is listed as "coming soon". -- Also at $15 is the Nat'l Geographic Field Guide for apple products (Apr 2010): http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/national-geographics-handheld/id315268465?mt=8 -- Birding books are also being added to the Amazon Kindle format, so far of note is Sibley's Birding Basics: http://www.amazon.com/Sibleys-Birding-Basics-ebook/dp/B001O1O7EO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=AZC9TZ4UC9CFC&s=digital-text&qid=1289846605&sr=1-1 -- Bruce Stevens Maryvale, NS --90e6ba5bb8dfd6138404951bdbef Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi All,

I dove head first into the smartphone market this weekend an= d can already see the birding benefits of this tool.
