At Big I. yesterday, Nov. 13, I was greeted with a flock of 30 + Redpolls. I had seen my first in Pictou about a week earlier with a small group of Goldfinches, but there must have been a bit of an arrival as it was hard to be outside the car for 5 min. and not have a small flock fly over. I would estimate 100+ easily on the island. I had them also later in the day at Little and Chance Harbours and I heard one fly over this morning as I retrieved my newspaper in the dark at 06:30. Some birds were in big numbers at Big I. yesterday with 2200 Red-breasted Mergansers and 1100 Canada Geese. There are still near 2 dozen Horned Grebes and more than a dozen Red-throated Loons. All 3 scoter species were seen and 2 individual Myrtle Warblers. There were 6 Black-bellied Plovers, 3 White-rumped Sandpipers and 15 Dunlin. I could not locate any unusual gulls in the Bonapartes and Ring-bills at the east end of the causeway. Chance Harbour was very active aith near 2000 Bonaparte's Gulls and hundreds of Red-breasted Mergansers and about 100 Commom Mergansers. Nearby was a flock of over 100 Hooded Mergansers. cheers Ken --Boundary_(ID_ocXnZccrOW1nog9ZN6jJ8A) Content-type: text/html; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META name=GENERATOR content="MSHTML 8.00.6001.18975"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton NS<BR>B0K 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I have been unable to locate my notebook since I got home yesterday so I will do a summary from my head.
