Hi All, Rain was no deterrent today to finding the Greylag Goose. While the=
re were no geese landing at the previous location on Shore Road thanks to D=
avid Curry & =E2=80=9CThe Network=E2=80=9D , Mike, Fulton, myself, David Mc=
Corquodale and 2 female birders from Maine were able to view the Greylag Go=
ose. It was nice to see that the goose was a surprisingly sleek and crisp l=
ooking individual of the western race Anser anser anser.=20

After our first look Fulton, Mike and I returned and were able to view the =
bird at a 100 meters by driving up the Lower Onslow Clarke Cemetery Road. W=
ith a little patience we were able to see the goose lift its feet as it wal=
ked through the corn stubble thus exposing its hind leg and we could clearl=
y see a bump that the three of us were pretty sure was the hind toe, but we=
were unable to see a nail.=20

For those of you that may not have the directions, from Halifax and/or the =
Halifax Airport, take Exit 14 A on Highway 102, onto Highway 2. Just past C=
rowes Mills Road the next right is a short road named McKinley Rd, this is =
where we saw the Grayleg. The entrance to this road is across from a John D=
eere dealership. If by chance the geese are not in this field try to time y=
our visit so you arrive just before the high tide so you can watch to see w=
hich of the many fields the geese are coming into for a landing.=20

At the first location on Shore Road there were large flocks of Horned Larks=
 undulating over the distant fields.=20

In the morning just before we got started on our journey, I made a quick wa=
lk along the shore at Hartlen Point, facing Devil's Island and Mike's Sora =
was still poking about along the edges of the pond/stream.=20

I plan to make a couple more trips up to see the goose so if anyone would l=
ike help finding it, feel free to contact myself at this email or Fulton La=
vender at 455-4966.=20

-Cheers & Good Hunting, Clarence=20
