Hi all,

If you're a nature watcher who enjoys waterfowl, please come out and help us
with our 2nd Annual Migratory Waterfowl Count in the Port Joli area on
Sunday, 7 November at 10 am.

*Why count waterfowl?* We will be collecting valuable information on the
abundance and distribution of coastal waterfowl in the Port Joli area, which
has been designated as an Important Bird
Area<http://www.ibacanada.ca/site.jsp?siteID=NS004&lang=EN>for
migrating and wintering waterfowl. The data will also be shared with
Environment Canada to help inform their management of Migratory Bird
Sanctuaries in the Port Joli, Sable River, and Port l'Hebert areas. Last
year we counted over 2,000 Canada Goose and hundreds of American Black Duck.

*Who's organizing?* Bird Studies Canada and Nature Conservancy Canada in
partnership with the Harrison Lewis Centre and Port Joli Basin Conservation
Society.

*What's involved?* Beginners and families are welcome! Help us count
birds, keep track of bird numbers, or carry spotting scopes. There will be
a mix of driving and walking to reach waterfowl observations sites. Lunch
will be provided by Nature Conservancy Canada. Bring binoculars or spotting
scopes if you have them, but we'll have some optics to share.

*How do I sign up?* Please click here to sign
