From: Tuma Young=20 Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2010 9:01 PM To: NatureNS=20 Subject: [NatureNS] what are these berries? Kwe' Msit Wen: Nick and I drove out to try and see the Bell's Vireo but no luck. = However, we did see the 2 Orange Crowned Warblers. We then went to = Sandy Cove but we only saw Black-capped Chickadees. We then drove out = to Crystal Crescent Beach to find it blocked with huge boulders. Seems = it is closed for the season. We saw a hairy woodpecker and a = white-throated sparrow. Drove back to Chebucto Head Road where we were = surprised by a Baltimore Oriole, along with a number of Yellow-rumped = warblers, and a number of American Robins. I took a record shot of the Oriole but I wanted to ask if anyone can = identify the berries that the American Robins were eating. I have = posted the picture to my gallery: http://gallery.me.com/tumayoung#100355/Jipja%27wej-American%20Robin&bgcol= or=3Dblack I hope the link works but in case it doesn't, just go to http://gallery.me.com/tumayoung Go to album titled: Thrashers and Thrushers, click on it, click on the = picture of the Jipja'wej (American Robin) and you can see the bird = eating a berry. I would appreciate any assistance in this matter. On our way back, we went to see the Bell's vireo-we did see a vireo but = a glimpse and no picture-we could not tell if it was the one or = different vireo. Just know that it was a vireo.
