Canada Yew was very abundant in our woods up to the late seventies and early eightys. We live on the Valley floor where there are very sandy soils. Some covered my woods trails and it was difficult to walk through because it was so thick. In a few short years the deer browsed it so thoroughly that it is now entirely gone from our woods and is not coming back even though our woods have become isolated by clear cutting and fewer deer reside there.
