Naturalists, When I gave my talk at the NSMNH, one of the topics was plants that are invasive in Ontario, but that we've only seen once in the Maritimes. Stopping to check a doubtful Phragmites sighting this afternoon, we found 2 plants of Epilobium hirsutum on the roadside of Hwy 102 southbound just N of the Hwy 101 exit ramp - 44.74807N 63.65357W - and Aleta has pretty well completed a watercolour of the flowers. When I went to check the name, I saw that our Peterson wildflower guide doesn't even mention this species occurring in the Maritimes, and when I googled on the name plus "Nova Scotia" the first hit I got was a faceebook page saying that an image of this species was needed for 'Plants of Nova Scotia,' so if anyone wants a photo, or to use Aleta's watercolour, the location is above (we took a specimen as well), and we can supply the image. This species isn't invasive in Ontario, but we do see it from time to time. fred. ------------------------------------------------------------ Frederick W.
