Kwe Msit Wen:

Nick and I headed up to Cape Breton for a meeting. Once the meeting was over,
we went birding with our good friends, Cathy and Allan Murrant. We saw Herring
Gulls, Great BB Gulls, a Sooty Shearwater, DC Cormorants, Northern Gannets,
American Crows, American Golden Plover, a Clay-coloured Sparrow, Merlin, Bald
Eagle, Mallards, Black Ducks, Black-bellied Plovers, White-rumped Sandpipers,
Sanderlings, Blue Jays, Yellow-rumped warblers, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers,
Lincoln's Sparrows, Song Sparrows, Savanna Sparrows, American Pipits, Black and
White Warblers, Black-throated Green Warblers, Vireos (I could not tell which
one it was-I see them but I thinking what kind of warbler is that rather then
what kind of vireo is that), Least sandpipers, Rusty Blackbirds, Great Blue
Herons, White-throated Sparrrows and a Catbird. All at Schooner Pond.

At one point, there were so many birds flying to and from, across the road in
front and back of us, that I got dizzy trying to get a look at them all. Five
new lifers for Nick and I: The American Pipit, the American Golden Plover, the
Clay-coloured Sparrow, Rusty Blackbird and the Lincoln's sparrow. I have
posted pictures of the first three to my gallery but could not get a decent shot
of the Lincoln's or the Blackbirds. We will have to try again!
