I remember coming back from a swamp in Louisiana, a bit disappointed, as there was very little activity and driving by a mall where a strange looking gull flew across the road and into the parking lot. I drove the car into the lot, cautioned Nick to be quiet and careful not to startle the bird. There were about a dozen Laughing Gulls milling around the lot. Nick walked very carefully and took some shots. I then realized that the birds were looking very hungrily at us. I turned around and lo and behold, we were in a Burger King parking lot. I went in to buy some french fries. I told our friend to take one fry at a time and toss it into the air. Nick and I got our flights shots of the Laughing Gulls who flew all around us in search of the food. It was fun and a very nice way to celebrate our 200th bird. I felt a bit guilty about doing this-contributing to the gulls hardening of the arteries et al but reading that post from Marg where Blake told her to feed the gulls hot dogs and sausages-I no longer feel guilty.
