I wasn't sure I believed her, but I know that = Doug Hennigar does know the birds.=20 Yesterday and today at about 4:30 p.m. I saw the osprey sitting on a = tall dead birch stub on the east side of the pond beside his cook house, = it doesn't seem to fear people as they walk on the path below the tree. = The bird flies freely, swoops over the pond and the many mallards in the = pond, and has been seen to catch some of the large goldfish that have = populated this pond in recent years. Doug believes that people must have = released some unwanted aquarium fish, but they have survived the past = few winters. The sighting of an osprey in this part of Kings County is unusual, and = this close to such a busy area even more so. George ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ George E.
