   To Martin A.:
Some forty randomly spaced, somewhat itchy lesions resembling insect
bites, on the lower legs? Did you do any wading in freshwater that day? If
so, you may have experienced classical Swimmer's Itch (cercariasis).
The lesions are caused by the larvae of a bird parasite that burrow into
your skin and die, causing in many people mild inflammation. It is quite
common in shallow, warm, reedy freshwater lakes and ponds. Right now is the
height of the Swimmer's Itch season.
